Dierks School District

The Dierks High School campus will pivot to virtual learning on Friday, February 5th and Monday, February 8th. The decision to remain virtual or return to onsite instruction after Monday will be determined and communicated at a later time. The high school campus will be available during normal school hours for any student wishing to use the district internet, keeping in mind no meals will be served. JoAnn Walters Elementary will continue onsite instruction as normal.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Friday, February 12th is one of our celebration days. Your child’s teacher will share details on class plans. The school will accept deliveries until noon that Friday. If you are having the florist deliver, it would be helpful to complete your order early. Please remember glass and balloons are not allowed on school buses. They can also be difficult for children to manage safely. Thank you for all of your support especially with the extra guidelines this year because of COVID-19.

Outlaw & Lady Outlaw Basketball Announcement: There will only be two games tonight with the senior girls game starting at 5:30 followed by the senior boys.

Parents & Guardians, Report cards for the second nine-weeks were sent home with your child on Friday, January 8th. Due to the possibility of winter weather on Sunday evening into Monday morning, Chromebooks were sent home with students for Virtual Learning, if needed. In the event of school closure, a notification will be sent via the district phone messaging system, mobile app, website, Facebook page, and local radio stations.

Outlaw/Lady Outlaw Basketball Announcement: At the request of Magnet Cove, the basketball games scheduled for tonight have been rescheduled to February 1st.

Please remember to complete the appropriate form if your child has been identified as a probable close contact or a positive case of COVID-19 during the Christmas break. The link to each of the forms is located in the "Live Feed" section of the district website or mobile app.

After continuing to review the appropriate data, the Dierks School District has decided to pivot to at home learning for the remaining two days of this week, beginning Thursday, December 17th. On site instruction is currently planned to resume on January 4th. Thank you for your cooperation to help keep our community safe and enjoy your Christmas Break.

Due to current concerns with COVID and to protect all communities involved, the Murfreesboro and Foreman games this week have been postponed to later dates.

In an effort to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus within our staff and student body we are asking all parents/guardians, and all employees to notify our designated Point of Contact immediately when the following occurs: • Someone in the household has tested positive for COVID-19. • Employee or student has been identified as a Close Contact to a positive case of COVID-19 and is requiring quarantine and/or recommended to be tested for COVID-19. • Student attending on -site and employees who are being tested for COVID-19. If symptomatic, student/staff should remain in quarantine pending results of their COVID-19 test. Although there are no positive cases among Dierks basketball players, the Arkansas Department of Health COVID-19 guidelines are being followed and the basketball games versus Centerpoint on Thursday, November 19th have been canceled.
